The fitness MIRROR is touted as a nearly invisible home gym. It's an internet-connected mirror/computer that lets you work out with fitness instructors from your home. The device is connected to your wifi. In this review, I break things down to help you understand it better as well as show you a testimony from those who've used the mirror. I'll also address questions you may want to think about such as the return policy and your privacy too. Is the mirror the future of fitness? Let's see. Leave comments below if I missed anything and if you want to share your thoughts.
Who Makes It?
The company is called Curiouser Products Inc. and was started in 2016. The company address is 1261 Broadway, #208 New York, NY 10001. The Mirror is the invention of Brynn Jinnette Putnam. Is It Really a Mirror?
When the device is off and you are not using it for workouts, you can use it as a real mirror. The size is
- 52 inches high
- 22 inches wide
It's pretty thin too, at only 1.4 inches.
Here's a quick video on it from TechCrunch
How Do You Set It Up
The company does all that for you. After you order the MIRROR they deliver it to your home and set it up for you, including setting up your internet access. They will connect it to your smartphone and any Bluetooth heart rate monitor and speaker you like. The MIRROR is controlled by your smartphone. This prevents fingerprints/smudges on the device.

Mirror Pros and Cons
How Much Does The Fitness MIRROR Cost?
The device costs about $1,495. If you qualify, you can pay $42 for 36 months. If you do this, the price will be $1512.
Set up and delivery costs $250.
In addition, to take advantage of the classes, you also have to get a membership which costs $39 a month ($468 per year). If the device catches on, the price could eventually be less than this.
What is the total cost: $1495 +$250 +468 = $2213.
Some have said that if you want one-on-one personal training, it will cost you $40 for a 30-minute session.
The Subscription Membership
You need a subscription if you want to access fitness classes and personal training sessions. The membership is $39 a month. This gives you unlimited access to all the classes 24 hours a day. Up to 6 people can use a membership.
What Kind of Classes Does It Have
their website says they are constantly adding new classes. They say there are over 70 new classes each week and more than 10,000 hours of classes you can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The classes you can access include but are not limited to:
- yoga (and barre yoga)
- weight lifting
- Bootcamp workouts
- pilates
- stretching

- Kettlebell workouts
- dance
- personal training

Can The Mirror Be Hacked?
The company takes privacy seriously. You need to enter a passcode into your smartphone to activate the mirror. The password must be entered when your phone is in front of the device too. In addition, if your Mirror has a camera and microphone, the company provides a physical lens cap to further reduce the chances of it being hacked. Here's a video for more information.
What I don't know is if the device captures images of you when you are working out. My guess is it doesn't but I could not find anything about this on the company website.
The Accessories
While I'm sure many of the videos don't require any extra equipment, some might. The Mirror website also has these accessories if you like
- Bluetooth Heart rate monitor
- Fitness bands
- Mirror care kit
Depending on what the exercise is, some dumbbells would be a good idea too.
My opinion is you probably don't need the mirror care kit. Since its a mirror, you can clean it the same way you do your computer monitor and TV screen.
Can It Replace A Personal Trainer?
While the mirror does have programs taught by certified personal trainers, it doesn't replace having someone in the room with you. I say this for a reason. Suppose you have a heart attack while working out alone. Can the personal trainer in the mirror see you? If yes, can they help? They cant do CPR on you. Can they call 911? Maybe eventually but what about now? I reached out to the Mirror company with this question. When I get a reply I'll update this review.
Do You Sign A Medical Waiver?
When you get a gym membership, you must sign a waiver that releases the gym from liability in case you're injured during your workout. You may also sign a PARQ also. Since the Mirror company is offering online exercise classes, in a way, they're almost like a gym membership. Do you have to sign a medical waiver before you can purchase the device or sign up for a Mirror fitness membership? What would happen if someone had a medical emergency while working out? What's that protocol look like?
I've reached out to the company for clarification. When they reply, I'll post an update. If you have health issues, consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

So Is The Mirror Right For You?
The mirror is an impressive piece of technology that is sure to be popular. The exercise class selection looks comprehensive, although I'm not quite sold on a computer replacing a gym membership. Some may also wonder why you can't do the same thing by watching exercise classes on youtube. I have concerns about online personal training classes, especially for those who have health problems.

I bought the mirror at a low price and havent.used it yet. I didn’t get the set up so it was cheaper now is on me to set it up. I have read many good reviews on it, the monthly subscription I did find it to be too steep. Will see how this goes.
Joe says
Rose, keep me posted on how you like it. Did you buy it for a business or for personal use?
